Best Seller

An inspiration to families:

A hard hitting film that uses facts to tackle the popular myths about club drugs. Eric Martin, one of the nation's leading experts on these drugs, discusses a wide array of substances. He covers drugs such as MDMA (ecstasy), methamphetamine, GHB, ketamine, and places particular emphasis on how the brain can be permanently damaged by their use.  Viewers learn how club drugs cause memory loss, sexual dysfunction, learning disabilities, altered perception, and other mental and physical problems.  Video footage from rave parties, and of users under the influence, drives home just how serious the consequences can be.

Eric Martin, MA, CADCIII, NCACII, is Executive Director of the Addiction Counselor Certification Board of Oregon.  The 2003 recipient of the Oregon Governor's Award for Excellence in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programming, Eric has worked in the treatment field for more than 17 years and is a recovering addict.

Why We Made this Film:

We created this film because over the years we have heard so many stories about kids and drugs and how there has never been a happy ending unless it ended with the story of recovery.

We've been receiving more and more requests for programs on the subject of club drugs and some of the other new and dangerous drugs. Recently we attended a seminar on club drugs and met Eric Martin. We asked him to sit down with us and explain the characteristics of various club drugs and why there is so much concern.

We learned the drugs distributed at raves do damage to the brains of the users. Not if or maybe they do damage, they damage the brain and the cognitive ability of the user. Not maybe -- always.

Having this presentation as a part of your library will be like having your own expert on club drugs.

Reviews:

"The video prompted great discussion.  It got kids thinking that they're not invincible and it 'could happen to them'."
Kim Miller, Prevention Specialist, Roseburg, OR Public Schools

"Eric Martin is an articulate lecturer who understands what's going on in the head of a user but who also can be totally blunt about why club drugs are dangerous."
David Sours, high school parent, Medford, OR
